Sash Japanese on Chapel Street is a fairly fresh face to Windsor. The Japanese fusion restaurant with a Hawaiian-Peruvian influence opened in August 2017. The location is ideal and amongst the other trendy eateries in the up and coming Foodie Windsor pocket.
The restaurant is dimly lit and could easily be missed from the street. It has plenty of seating though, from high tables, booths, and seats near the kitchen so you can watch all the action.
Sash is a collaboration between co-owners and high school mates Kyle Stagoll and Dave Nelson, and head chef Tut, who joins them from Ichi Ni. The impressive and visually pleasing drinks are from the former GoGo bar drinks man Kyle Rose.
This food is unlike anything you would have had before. Clear all expectations from your mind about Japanese food. Sash Japanese have heaps of vegan options. Start with a fresh avocado taco or the eggplant open Poke bowl. For the mains, you can get the balsamic eggplant or pumpkin beetroot pizza. Can’t have gluten or just want to blow your mind? Get the rice base pizza with miso eggplant. To finish, try the vegan chocolate mousse.
