Watch out meat section, compassionate options have just entered the building and you know this is the future.
Thanks to a new meat alternative for vegetarians and vegans alike, when it comes to grocery shopping. Launching in June 2018, Woolworths is exclusively offering the new 100% plant-based mince alternative, Minced, by Funky Fields.
With the same protein content (18%) of beef (cow) when cooked, why would you choose the animal source variety? Minced is said to be formulated to taste like meat and will be a great substitute to use for recipes such as spaghetti bolognese or taco filling.
Funky Fields Australian Director, Peter Jones, has said “Minced is meat – it’s just made from plants! Our team spent over a year developing a plant-based version of mince that will make your mouth water – even if you’re a meat-lover – and will help to reframe the way we think about meat,”
“We hope when people see Minced it will encourage more Aussies to embrace a plant-based diet or at least cut back on their meat consumption which we know is better for both the environment and our health,” Jones adds.
In Australia, 2.5 million of us are vegan1, and this trend is on the rise with consumers eating less meat-based protein. We like anything that reduces animal consumption and abuse. Every day eating as a vegan you save 4164 litres of water, 30sq ft of forest, 9kgs of Co2, 18kgs of grain and 1 animals life2.
The Minced ‘meat’ from Funky Fields is made from Soybeans, Wheat Protein, Coconut, Beetroot and Mushrooms. The white spots in the “meat” are coconut fat. It is the perfect substitute for those who are wanting to live a little more sustainably and cut out some consumption of live animals.
Funky Fields Minced will be available at all Woolworths nationwide from this week for $8.00 (400g).
