This is the easiest pickled onion recipe you will find. With an added bonus that it is all natural and there are only 3 ingredients.  It’s super simple as you will see below and super quick.

We are all looking for that extra time in the day and you don’t want to be spending hours or even days for something to pickle. This recipe cuts it down nicely for you.  Plus the avocado gives that lovely creaminess to the dish with the pickled onions over the top.

15 Min Pickled Onion & Avocado Smash

  • 1 Red Onion thinly sliced
  • 2 Limes
  • Salt
  • 1 Avocado
  • 2 tsp Capers
  • Toast/Crackers
  1. Slice up your Red Onion and place in a small bowl. Best to use something small because you will now juice the two limes over the top of the red onion. make sure its covered in the lime juice.
  2. Sprinkle with a good serve of salt.
  3. Place in the fridge, covered.
  4. Smash up your avocado to the desired texture.
  5. Spread on your toast or crackers and throw the capers over the top.
  6. After 15 mins grab the red onion and place some over the top of your Avo Smash.
  7. Enjoy
Recipe Notes

The red onion will continue to pickle the longer you leave it. So let it ferment in the fridge for a couple days and keep using on different items. Tacos, sandwiches, all sorts of things.
