Like all Australian grocers, Aldi is continually adding plant-based options to its stores. In exciting news this week, they have just announced that a new plant-based mince will be hitting the shelves on Wednesday (11th December 2019).
This mince is Aldi brand Earth Grown which launched in the states about two years ago. Earth grown has a large variety of products under its ‘brand’ including “Jumbo Hot Dogs, Meatless Meatballs, Chickenless Tenders, Thai Veggie Burgers and Asian Veggie Burgers. Vegan mozzarella and various styles of vegetable patties” as mentioned on Livekindly. “More of what you WANT!” is what the brand is calling the new additions, a great implication that consumers are driving demand.
At only $6.49 for 400g, this is now one of the cheapest meat alternatives on offer in Australia. It is only going to be available while stocks last, so get in quick!
Not only is the mince vegan-friendly, but also does not contain any gluten or soy.
The mince is made from Rehydrated Pea Textured Protein (Pea Protein Isolate, Pea Fibre, Water), Water, Vegetable Oil, Potato Starch, Tapioca Starch, Bamboo Fibre, Thickeners (461, 407a), Natural Flavours, Dehydrated Vegetables (Garlic, Beetroot), Psyllium Husk, Yeast Extract, Pepper, Salt, and Colour (150a).
Other regular vegan options in Aldi include:
- Simply Vegetarian Burgers and Sausages
- Falafel Bites, and Chickpea, Sweet Potato and Quinoa Bites.
- Moser Roth Dark Chocolate varieties (the dark choc raspberry almond tastes like Cherry Ripe trust us).
- Yoconut Dairy Free yoghurt and ice cream,
- Hillcrest Bubble Bars
- Frozen Hash Browns (gluten-free too)
- And, the cheapest quality tofu going round
