A Mexican and Italian walked into a bar. It was Chacho’s, they were both happy.
What once was a French restaurant on Chapel Street, Windsor, is now a Pizza and Tequila bar. Owner Daniel Xerri a previous Mechanical Engineer, lived in France for 4 years. On returning to Melbourne he wanted a change. As a result he decided to open a restaurant. Since August 2018 this hot spot has had a changeup to suit the local demographic. Introducing Chacho’s.
Daniel is in good company, snagging Ben Street from Smith and Daughters as the Bar Manager and Dan Peg as Head Chef, formally at Lazer Pig.
Each Wednesday night is Vegan night at Chachos. All dairy free pizzas are just $15 all night! There are plenty to choose from, and the bar is also all vegan. Thanks to Dan! (cheers to that).
Pizzas that are vegan or can be made vegan at Chacho’s are; Major Margherita, Vegemite Pizza, a garlic sweet potato and broccolini pizza and mushroom pizza. Sides include roasted pepitas, house olives, green salad and skin on fries. There’s also an El Beano Burger that sounds pretty tasty. Don’t worry, the pizzas are still cheesy though, they use Follow Your Heart vegan cheese. You can also swap for a Gluten Free base.
Behind the bar is an impressive tequila and mezcal range. The entire Chacho’s drinks menu was created by Ben. Aquafaba features heavily in the cocktail list, taking them to the next level. Ben has a knack for creating delicious cocktails. A must try is the Coco Loco which tastes just like a lemon meringue pie. If you want to something extra fun and learn at the same time, book in for a tequila tasting masterclass.
