Adidas is arguably the most iconic cultural footwear brand of the century. From its pioneering sponsorship of Run DMC in the 80’s, Adidas has always been on the front foot when it comes to change. Now transforming some of its most iconic sneakers to vegan versions.
Called the “Our Icons Go Vegan”, the brand has launched two sneakers on the 9th June, retailing for $80USD. The Samba and the Continental 80 are the two designs to first have vegan options, with more planned for the near future. All parts of these shoes are made without any use of animal-based materials.
THE ICONIC SAMBA GETS REVAMPED WITH AN ENTIRELY VEGAN DESIGN.
“A step in the right direction. The Adidas Samba shoes are no stranger to covering expansive ground. With the same look and feel as the original style, this version advocates for a better future with an entirely vegan design. The signature T-toe keeps them rooted in the soccer fields of the past.”
COMFORTABLE SHOES MADE WITH VEGAN MATERIALS.
“The shoe that once found its rhythm in the packed fitness studios of the ’80s makes some new moves today. These vegan Adidas shoes completely eliminates the use of animal products. So swap out the bold colors of the ’80s and exchange them for a brighter future.”
Boasting that this pair of shoes features an algae-based EVA foam that helps clean at least 30 liters of polluted lake water.
Although these shoes are unavailable in Australia at this date, it’s only a matter of time before they are released here.
