Bay City Burrito has two locations in Melbourne. The first on Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn has been around since 2009. The St Kilda store opened around 3 years ago.
Gary Mink is San Francisco born and bred, he loves Mexican food and wanted to bring real burritos to Australia. He gave up his 25-year career in IT and started making them. All of the food and produce is carefully sourced and lovingly prepared.
Now, years on and pro’s in the authentic Mexican scene, Bay City Burrito is adding a plethora of vegan options to the menu.
The manager of the Hawthorn Store, Vee Asimov, along with the current Head Chef from V. Melb (previously the Head Chef at The Alley & Urban Projuice) have created a few new dishes for the menu to compliment some exiting options. But there will be plenty more to come! They are working on having a vegan option for every burrito on the menu using faux meats.
Currently, the vegan options are Vegan Nachos, Pulled Jackfruit Burrito, Everest potato and mushroom burrito, California Burrito, Valencia Veg burrito and the Bean and Cheese Burrito. You can also grab yourself a tasty jackfruit taco and some naturally vegan sides. But wait, if you want to get the party started, you can sip on vegan-friendly wine, margarita or Sangria!
The California and the Jackfruit Burrito are the most popular on the Bay City Burrito menu. But careful, it’s filling, so wear your stretchy pants.
