When you walk through the doors of Evie’s Disco Diner you are instantly transported back to the 80’s. The Diner is filled with retro games, of which you can play, and a huge dance floor in the centre which honestly just makes you want to dance. Since opening in February 2018, Wayne Markus has set Evie’s apart by bringing a sense of inclusiveness to the diner. Seeming to have done this effortlessly by making every meal at Evie’s Disco Diner available to have the vegan equivalent. No that doesn’t mean they modify, but rather using vegan chicken, vegan bacon and other substitutes to bring you the same meal without animal products.
Evies continues its group hug by having comedy nights, trivia nights, drag shows, live gigs and a weekly bottomless brunch, which, you guessed it, has a vegan option as well. They also have a clear mission to reduce their waste and make the venue as sustainable as possible. With the use of reusable glass straws and bringing in Riot Wine for the vino option. Riot Wine only distribute through kegs, which brings your wine on tap without bottle use. But let’s talk food.
It’s classic American style food but so much more inviting. With about half of the customers ordering vegan, you know they are doing something very right. With sexy loaded fries, mac n cheese, chicken burgers, carbonara, mushroom stroganoff and plenty of other items, Evies Disco Diner is ticking all the right boxes.
The most popular items on the menu include the Mac Attack, a vegan beef burger with a mac n cheese pattie and a vegan beef pattie. The Chicken Waffles which includes vegan chicken bites on top of waffles, with hot sauce and smothered in maple syrup. But our favourite is the Carbonara, with a rich and creamy sauce with vegan bacon, it’s not easy for us to talk about without wanting more.
Don’t miss their bottomless brunch from 11:30 – 1:30 on Sundays with 1 meal and unlimited bubbles, mimosas or Bloody Mary’s.
