Opening in Feb 2018, Grey Cells Green is the new all vegan bar on Chapel Street Windsor. Owners Maria and Bruce McLaverty are both vegan and have been for approximately 7 years. They didn’t start off working in kitchens though, both were previously primary and secondary school teachers.
It all started after a trip to Berlin, after seeing all the amazing food there they wondered why there was nothing like that in Melbourne. They thought “No one else is going to open a vegan bar so we will.” GCG aims to be a traditional bar that just so happens to be all vegan.
On the menu you will find chips, cauliflower nuggets, nachos, and burgers. The menu also happens to be 80% gluten-free. Compassionate kitchen desserts and cakes are stocked in the fridge as well if you are looking for an afternoon treat and a coffee.
The restaurant seats 45, with the capacity for 95, there is a function/meeting space upstairs.
Most of the alcohol is Australian from local distilleries and always vegan
Grey Cells Green use only ethical cleaning products as well.
