Sustainability and your overall health are the key objectives at Grouse Cafe in Carnegie. The wonderful side benefit is that they can do this while making their food extremely delicious. Magdalena, the former manager at Left Field and her partner Rapha are keeping the environmental impact of their new cafe as low as possible. From having their coffee grounds and food waste picked up for reuse, to reusing any plastic tubs, coffee being delivered in large quantities with reuseable containers, bio-degradable take away packaging and the list goes on.
While eco-friendly practices are seen throughout, they have also managed to create an oasis that feels like you are walking into a cafe in Bali. From the beautiful white walls, to the courtyard with tropical plants and everyone’s favourite hanging swing basket. It’s the perfect place to unwind, whether it’s after a gym session or you just want to lounge and read a book while sipping a smoothie.
The specialty is Acai Bowls, Smoothie Bowls and plant-powered pre & post-workout drinks. However, there are also breakfast boards, toasties and salads for those not wanting a smoothie. Using the highest quality ingredients, you can tell the difference in the first bite with any of the menu items. They ooze with flavour and freshness.
You can expect to find Proud Mary coffee beans, Citizen Cacao treats in the fridge, together with a wide range of vegan truffles, treats and snacks. Fresh muffins feature daily at the counter, and Magdalena has also perfected a Vegan Bircher Muesli that you can take away on your walk trip to work.
