Green Burger burst on to the Melbourne burger scene in December 2018 and are now planning to bring the comfort of the green sleeve to St Kilda. Set to open their doors on the 18th July the new pop-up will be called Green Velvet, a vegan bar, restaurant and late-night saloon.
“We believe the beachside suburb is perfect for our popup and plan to make Green Velvet like Green Burger in Collingwood: a destination venue.” confirms Matt Giles.
So, if you are up for Duckless Fluffies, Hot n’ Cold dairy-free Coladas or an aged rum charged sustainable drop, Green Velvet is for you.
The chosen venue for this burger n’ booze blitz is Melbourne’s iconic venue Robarta. The venue is in the midst of renovations to turn it into something extraordinary. The vibe: vintage club-house with a red-hot splash of neon lit cheek. Luckily, Robarta just happens to hold a 24-hour licence ensuring the saloon vibes continue until very very late.
Green Velvet is a march forward expanding the Green Burger brand with a focus on plant-based burgers and fries in a custom-designed venue.
DRINKS AT GREEN VELVET
In keeping with their ‘alternative’ to animal products ethos, they will be recreating the kind of timeless drinks that traditionally use dairy. Flips and winter sours are the order of the day with bar manager Michael Forbes, ‘Hot n’ Cold Coladas (with warm white chocolate sake foam) topping his list.
In addition to a unique and vegan-friendly cocktail list, they have spent weeks searching for burger friendly beers, ales and wines to match their bar-friendly fare.
