1 Inkerman – Australia’s first vegan Co-working space

In what is potentially a first in Australia, 1 Inkerman Coworking Space in St Kilda has become a completely vegan. This is exciting news and hopefully a sign of things to come across the nation.

1 Inkerman owners Daniella and Marcus Balscheit recently went vegan at the start of the year, after the influence of well know cafe owner (Zachary Balmain, owner of Particle Cafe, and Marcus’ Son) they wanted to bring it into their workspace.

“We are creating a harmonious workplace that has an ethical and sustainable focus.” says Marcus

There will be no animal products in the workspace, so leave your cow’s milk and meat at home.  Instead, enjoy some plant-based milk in your coffee or make a fresh juice with the supplied veggies in the shared kitchen. Marcus is currently making juice for the workers each day.

1 Inkerman is also focussing on the sustainable side of things. Workers are asked not to bring disposable coffee cups and plastic bottles/straws etc in. Olivia Springs water is available in the kitchen as well as spare keep cups. So there is no need for plastic.

“You don’t have to be vegan to work here, just mindful of the space and the people you are working with.”

There will also be weekly yoga classes and mindfulness sessions in the large bottom level area.

If you would like to co-work at 1 Inkerman, you can grab a fixed desk, semi-private office. Or, make use of the large boardroom and communal space.

It is perfect for a solo small business owner who is sick of looking at their living room walls, or a small team that needs to find a space to work together.
