The Details

Blackwork cafe located in Croydon opened it’s doors on the 4th May this year, bringing some fresh and wholesome vegan options to the area. The second cafe for Evan and Laura James after their original cafe, Round Bird Can’t Fly, in Lilydale enjoyed success with their dedicated vegan menu.

They saw that there was a demand for a plant based menu in the area and produced it.

Blackwork has a warm feel as soon as you walk through the doors, with large wooden rafters giving the cafe a sense of the raw outdoors while being sleek and stylish.

The Food

The dedicated vegan menu at Blackwork is quite extensive with new options that have a twist on flavours that you won’t expect. The Chipotle Jackfruit it fresh with a zesty burst of flavour, while the mushroom burger delivers some full flavours with some delicious onion rings and chips on the side.

Other items on the menu are bircher with mango panna cotta, tofu scrambles, and a spin on the favorite smashed avocado that includes a beetroot cashew cream. Feel like something small and sweet with your coffee? The treat fridge has vegan pastry and cake options including donuts.
