    The Details

Set in the heart of Fitzroy, Cafe Louis stands tall in a large open warehouse-like building. Completely white on the outside, but warm and inviting as soon as you walk through the doors. With wooden bar, walls, furniture, you might think it would be too much, however, Cafe Louis successfully creates a sense of comfort and relaxation. It’s the perfect cozy location to sit and read a book, whilst sipping a long black coffee and enjoying some of Melbournes best vegan cafe food.

It was just after the latest lockdown in Melbourne that Cafe Louis decided to change everything on their menu and switch to purely vegetarian through the entire venue. A bold move, which they embraced proudly, with the feedback being very positive from their customer base.

    The Food

It’s a smorgasbord of vegan options at Cafe Louis. The entire menu is vegetarian/vegan with a vegan option for everything. Want pancakes? They have you covered. Want a delicious vegan Banh Mi with the crispy roll? Sorted. They have your big breakfast sorted and much more. It’s all made with love and care, and you can tell it has had thought behind it.

It’s definitely the Banh Mi that will win you over, with a generous serve of plant-based crumbed chicken, homemade mushroom paté, Asian style slaw, fresh cucumber, topped with fresh coriander and dressed with herb-infused mayonnaise. It can also be made gluten-free with a crumbed tofu and GF roll. Now if that does make your mouth water, I don’t know what will.
