Island Whole Foods located in Cowes, Phillip Island opened in May 2015. Owners Matt and Laura found there was a demand for vegan food on the Island after Laura had been selling vegan chocolates at local markets. As there were no other cafes in Phillip Island supplying wholesome plant-based food at the time, they decided to open their own café.
Island Whole Foods has an inviting and rustic feel as soon as you walk through their doors. They are environmentally conscious, using stainless steel straws and biodegradable takeaway cups.
The extensive plant-based menu provides three choices of burgers, with the most popular being the original open veggie burger with cashew cheese. The buckwheat pancakes stacked with chia berry jam and cocowhip is a burst of flavour and the snickers smoothie bowl is sweet and creamy, topped with cocowhip, luxe cacao pops and chocolate sauce.
There is an extensive superfood smoothie menu, including the popular cacao and banana smoothie and the fruity acai and berry smoothie.
The treat cabinet is packed with raw sweets such as peanut butter cups and mint slices.
