‘All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players’ – William Shakespeare. Enter stage right – The Ambitious Act. A space where actors, performers and artists alike can congregate and shine!
‘The Ambitious Act’ is the infant of partners Justin and Nicole. It only opened up 2 months ago on Clarendon St in South Melbourne and is already sparking interest amongst the local community. After returning to Melbourne following a 4-year stint in London, Justin & Nicole decided to bring their unique vision to life. They both wanted to create a space, which could encourage and support budding actors, performers and artists. In short, a space where all their friends could hang out and feast on delicious vegetarian food in a cosy space whilst supporting local actors. What more could you ask for?
They have an upstairs studio space, which anyone can hire for filming, photo shoots, events, readings or rehearsals etc for a donation. The money collected is then donated towards Melbourne performing arts and local film & theatre projects.
The menu is completely Vegetarian with a multitude of Vegan & Gluten Free options. The food is simple, homely and wholesome, like going to dinner at your friend’s house who just happens to be the most amazing cook. Let’s face it we all have one of these friends! The menu sets the scene of the café and is cleverly written like the script for a play.
They’ve got you sorted for all moods of the day, from breakfast, brunch and to dinner. For brunch check out the mixed mushrooms harvested from the nearby South Melb Market, the vegan scrambled eggs or the cornbread stack (request vegan option).
Their heavier meals have Northern Italy covered. Dine on some gnocchi with mushroom ragu and spaghetti walnut Bolognese. The lentils with crispy polenta also sound perfect for Winter with a glass of wine!
