Set in the heart of Richmond on Victoria st is this hidden gem of a cafe, Volume 2. With minimal signage out front, you may just miss it. Stepping inside though, you are met with the sensual aroma of freshly brewed coffee with local art adorning the walls. Owners Andrew Sholakis, Andrew Akathiotis and George Tsagouris, friends for some time through their experience in hospitality wanted to make sure that this cafe was catering to everyone, without making you remove items from your meals. The plant-based options were a conscious decision with emphasis placed on creating great flavour while keeping them healthy.
Let’s be honest, a smoothie bowl that has a mermaid tail made of vegan chocolate, that actually tastes amazing, is going to win people’s hearts every day of the week. Volume 2 has mastered this, with most people questioning whether it is vegan. But it’s not just smoothie bowls or sweet dishes that Volume 2 excels in. One look at the Cauliflower tacos and you know how good they are going to be. However, even their towering look does not prepare you for the flavour explosion when you take your first bite. It is safe to say, you will want more than 3.
If you are feeling green, then the Falafel plate is definitely up your alley, with a variety of greens, pan-fried and tossed with a blend of middle eastern spiced nuts and seeds. There are numerous other items to tickle your tastebuds, which is why you need to head down to Victoria st to try it all.
