Conscious Cravings Co, owner and operator, Darelle Menzies, fondly known as Dee, started making raw treats in her kitchen in 2015. Frustrated with the lack of options for vegans that were also Gluten Intolerant and FODMAP friendly. Her wholesale business, Conscious Cravings, was going gangbusters and she needed more space. Dee, found a production space and kitchen in 2016 in the Mount Eliza area. She decided to throw in a coffee machine and it grew from there!
Now, you can enjoy Conscious Cravings treats, Smoothies, Bowls, Wraps and Toast. Everything is Vegan, Gluten Free and mostly FODMAP friendly. FODMAP referring to Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols (science words) can be tricky but at Conscious Cravings, they measure the ingredients carefully, right down to the amount of beans in a falafel ball.
Dee was vegetarian as a child and after learning from customers and watching documentaries, she made the switch to a vegan diet.
In March 2020 Conscious Cravings Co expanded to a new location in Mordialloc where they keep the same mantra as they had in their original store, but a new menu filled with treats that have been refined over years.
The meal to note is the new omelet, made from potato starch that is low in carbs. Yes, we are not quite sure how this happens either but the result is something out of this world. A fluffy, delicious plant-based omelet that will have you coming back for more. There are new corn fritters on the menu that pack a punch of flavour, topped with your choice of tempeh bacon or rice paper bacon. Both great options.
If you are looking for something light and wholesome, you can’t go past their Granola Bowl, topped with seasonal fruits, coconut vanilla yoghurt, hemp seeds & your choice of plant-based milk. Or the banana bread with freshly ground almond butter, sweet pistachio dukkah, maple, elderflower & banana. Need we say anymore.
